Many museums showcase a dizzying array of artifacts plundered and looted during various phases of occupation, war, and colonization. Many of these stolen sacred and precious objects have stories that they wish to tell. Stories about their original use, the land that they came from, the spirits that inhabit them, and the lost stories of their makers.

During this tour of the Met, we will learn to communicate with objects. We will learn various techniques that help us to open our empathic centers and listen with our full selves. We will take turns sharing our psychic impressions of various objects, and comparing notes.

The exercises that we will explore are designed to nurture space for creativity, imagination, and critical consciousness. It is my hope that in learning these deep listening practices, we can learn to better stand in solidarity with struggles against exploitation, appropriation, and colonization. Let us re-sensitize ourselves to the “culture” that we consume.

If you would like to donate to the Golden Dome School, you are welcome to Venmo $11 to Eliza-Swann to assist with programming costs.
